After graduating from Seminole High School, Dr. Mark Smith received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Florida State University.
He received a second Bachelor’s Degree in Physiological Optics and then his Doctorate in Optometry at Southern College, also completing an externship in Ocular Disease at VEF Eye Center at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
Dr. Smith returned to his hometown to enter private practice and became the Center Director for an ocular disease & surgery referral center owned by Omega Health Systems. Currently, Dr. Smith lives in St. Petersburg, where he joined the ophthalmology practice within Suncoast Medical Clinic and has practiced there for over twenty-five years.
He is a member of the American Optometric Society, the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. He is also a member of the International Sports Vision Association.
Dr. Smith participates and donates to YMCA Clearwater Fishing Tournament and has for the past ten years. He maintains a collection on site for the Lions Club to collect donated glasses and has personally contributed over 3,000 new eyeglass frames to the lions club organization to make eyeglasses for the underprivileged.
He volunteers his time for the “Be My Eyes” online visual service for the blind and urges everyone to become involved. He is an avid fisherman and sportsman and is active in his Church.
Dr. Dane Kuplicki is a native Floridian, born and raised in South Pinellas County. He graduated from the same high school as Dr. Smith (Seminole High School), received a degree in finance and pre-med from the University of South Florida, and earned his doctorate in optometry from Indiana University’s School of Optometry (c/o 2017). He enjoys establishing ongoing relationships with his patients and utilizing the latest technology to provide them with the best care, tailored to their individual visual needs.
Dr. Dane lives with his wife, Nina, 1-year-old, Cade & newborn daughter, Dani in Seminole. In his free time, Dr. Kuplicki enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing ice hockey, fishing, and volunteering in the community. He is an avid Tampa Bay sports fan and loves following our local teams.
Licensed Optician/Optical Manager
Amanda has been a Licensed Optician for over 22 years. She developed a passion for the optical industry at a very young age and knew it was the career for her. She has worked at The Optical Shop for Dr. Mark Smith for over 15 years. She continually strives to make The Optical Shop a fun, yet professional, environment that allows patients to have an exciting and enjoyable experience.
In her spare time, she teaches spin classes and is an avid runner. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her husband, and son - Ritchie, and daughter - Ivy along with her 2 rescued dogs, Lucy and Gabby.

Susan is a Board Certified Licensed Optician. She has been in the optical industry for 20+ years. Susan started out by working in an optical lab, fabricating prescription glasses. She has been fortunate to work at The Optical Shop for Dr. Mark Smith for the past 10 years. Susan enjoys working with patients, helping them find the perfect pair of glasses and educating them on the latest lens technology. When Susan is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband.
